19.11.13 - 66118 6E77 Hunterston - West Burton, Shaw Paddock

An S&C special: fells, cloud and dramatic lighting. I wasn't rushing down through Mallerstang today, I thought that the earlier southbound coal would've passed around 07.30 and that I'd be able to get a shot of 6Z88 heading north and a later coal heading south. When I arrived back at Shaw Paddock I could hear 6E77 approaching, as it rounded the curve near the summit I could instantly see it was a DBS red 66. As it approached an incredibly lucky envelope of sunlight pierced the gloom to highlight the bright red loco. 66118 works south through Shaw Paddock with the Hunterston - West Burton coal and as it turned out this was the late running first s/b coal. Another DBS daigram followed just 10 mins later in dull conditions.
