23.6.08 66551 Horrocksford Junc - Carlisle engineers, Shaw Paddock

A location I have renamed (Pete) Shaw Paddock after the photographer who has dedicated all his efforts to the S&C. Against a bleak pennine backdrop 66551 powers through Shaw Paddock, just north of Shotlock Hill tunnel, in early evening light on a used ballast working from the Horrocksford Junction engineering possession heading for the discharge point at Carlisle yard. This shot has been published twice, once in the 'Line by Line - Settle & Carlisle' book by Martin Buck and again in Rail Express magazine.
