7.2.09 – Unidentified Virgin Voyager, BNS – Glasgow Central, Smardale

The weekends of early February 2009 saw some services diverted away from the WCML due to planned engineering possessions. On 7th Feb a weather front was expected to arrive from the north bringing yet more snow, but there was a chance of sunshine prior to its arrival. I'd positioned myself at Smardale for a late running southbound WC divert but in the end this was my only shot in sun prior to full cloud cover. It's still a very pleasing result. As snow clouds advance from the north and unidentified Virgin Voyager works north through a freezing Smardale with a Birmingham to Glasgow Central working.
