What a beauty. After wall to wall sunshine all morning the light was minutes away from disappearing for the rest of the day (and the following 2 days) as a bank of cloud advanced from the north. Much colder conditions with ground frost this morning and patches of fog around the Eden Valley. My plan was to head further south but I got stuck at work and had to make a mad dash out to grab a local shot. In stunning light, emphasised by the dark cloudscape, 60011 thunders around the curve at Smardale with 6E97 Kirkby Thore - Tees Dock empty gypsum boxes. This remains the only freight running on S&C metals north of Blea Moor as NR continue to work to clear and repair the line at Petteril Bridge Junction due to the derailment of the Clitheroe cement train in Oct.
