JL - 10.3.23 66143 6E97 Kirkby Thore - Tees Dock, Smardale

With heavy overnight snows and clear skies forecast this early March day promised the classic combination of sun and snow so photographers were out in force throughout the county. The early cloud drifted south on ever strengthening winds and Cumbria shivered in Winter scenes. This stunning vista at Smardale greeted 66143 as she worked slowly south with 6E97 Kirkby Thore - Tees Dock empty gypsum boxes. Driver WR was stopped at one of Appleby's intermediate signals due to a fault, having to to pass it at danger and proceed at caution. With so many shots at Smardale from the ground I'm really appreciating the flexibility on shot compositions I can get from the air. As the S&C is my main subject this was the reason I decide to invest in drone photography.
