The Autumn sun had yet to fully illuminate the foreground as EWS 66122 climbed through Smardale with 6E85 Hunterston - Drax loaded coal working. This was to be the start of 3 days superb weather across Cumbria which led to some excellent photographic opportunities. It also meant I wasn't alone at many locations with photographers from far and wide descending upon the line.
