JL - 9.10.18 66421 6C89 Mountsorrel - Carlisle, Lunds

Just as the sun dipped behind fells 66421 emerged from Moorcock Tunnel with 6C89 Mountsorrel - Carlisle Yard ballast. I was hoping for an early arrival so that I could capture this diagram in the stunning Autumn evening light but alas it was not quite early enough. Still it's a nice result never the less with the consist picked out by the low sun against a backdrop of darkening fells. This diagram was later to suffer dangerous wheel flats and come to a stand at Low House, blocking the line for the whole of the next day which saw freights diverted via the S&C and passenger services severely disrupted and terminated at Appleby. This shot was published in Rail Express Dec 2018 edition.
