There was some excitement with this working in the small hours. The original allocated loco 66080, slid down past Ormside due to poor railhead conditions causing severe wheel flats. The loco proceeded at 5mph to Kirkby Thore where it was detached. An STP job was hastily arranged to send a light engine up from Knottingley. 66169, the rescue loco is seen here plodding south at Smardale with 6M95 Kirkby Thore - Hull coal terminal returning to collect another loaded of imported Spanish desulpho-gypsum.
