JL - 10.10.18 4M00 Carlisle Yard - Clitheroe, Smardale

On a beautiful Autumnal morning it looked like it would be a fantastic days photography, however, wouldn't you know there was a problem. The previous nights ballast working, which I'd taken at Lunds, suffered severe wheel flats on the descent and was stopped at Low House, unable to continue. This meant disruption to S&C traffic with passenger trains being terminated at Appleby and various freights either cancelled or diverted via the WCML. The cement did get through but was heavily delayed and is seen here running 105 mins late at Smardale. 66738 does the honours with 4M00 Carlisle Yard - Clitheroe.
