2.12.14 - 66425 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Greengates

Today was the first occasion I've had for a while to get out to the lineside. A frost early this morning suggested we'd have clear skies later and that was a welcome change to the cold dull conditions which have dominated November. The S&C gods however weren't playing ball and this was the only southbound freight in daylight - a very low ebb for traffic at present. Still, a clean DRS 66 on a decently loaded 6K05 was a nice welcome back to the line. 66425 powers noisily south through Greengates running 30mins early with the lunchtime Carlisle - Crewe engineers. The clear atmosphere afforded clear views across the Eden Valley to the distant Pennine range.
