JL - 27.9.17 66718 Cottam - Greenburn, Crosby Garret

In recent weeks coal traffic has seen a small revival and returned to the S&C after a prolonged absence. Power stations such as Eggborough, Drax and Cottam have all received coal that has travelled via the S&C. The requirement for these diagrams is due to a short term capacity agreement to provide the National Grid with electricity at times of high demand. The loaded workings have been travelling south late at night but there's a chance of catching the northbound empties in the morning. Here, a colourful 66718 'Sir Peter Hendy OBE' leads a Cottam - Greenburn working acorss Crosby Garret viaduct whilst the sleepy village bathes in watery seasonal light.
