JL - 2.11.15 37401 2C47 10.04 Preston - Barrow, Holme Island

A quick dash across to the costal route at Grange produced this shot of the attractive 37401 'Mary Queen of Scots' on 2C47 10.04 Preston - Barrow. I'm pleased with this because this is my first shot of this particular 37/4 and I had no idea which of the class would be working the diagram today. In this light I'd have been happy enough with any of the DRS 37s but this one really looks fantastic set against some Autumnal colours as she skirts Morecombe Bay whilst slowing for the booked stop at Grange. I could hear the working around 20 minutes before this shot as the sounds drifted across the bay from Silverdale. This shot was published in the December 2015 issue of the Railway Magazine along with another shot taken at Docker viaduct on the same day.
