4.11.12 - 36602 & 37609 3S77 Tursdale Jun - Carlisle RHTT, Whitchester

I happened to be leaving Newcastle airport around 1pm and my original idea had been to attempt a few shots of the Grand Central HST along the Durham Coast route, however on my journey north up the A1 it was mist and fog until just north of Newcastle, so a re-think was required. I remembered that the 37 hauled Tyne Valley RHTT runs on Sundays and so I headed along the A69. There was plenty of time to explore new locations options but I settled on Whitchester because I reckoned it would keep the sun longest as it sank closer to the horizon. Haydon Bridge signalman informed that it should pass there at 15.10 but it took longer than I thought to get to this spot and I had a tense wait as the sun sank towards a bank of cloud. In the end, just before I lost the light, 37602 and 37609 rounded the curve with 3S77 Tursdale Junction - Carlisle Tyne Valley RHTT. A pleasing shot, especially considering it was my first attempt at this working.
