13.1.12 - 66850 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk, Ais Gill Milepost 260

At this time of year it's always an agonizing wait at Ais Gill for anything passing Kirkby later than about 14.20, especially if you're waiting for a slow moving coal or log train. This is the second occasion that I've done the milepost 260 shot with literally seconds to spare. In fact by the time the last wagonload of Kielder timber passed, the sun had dropped behind the fellside. As the encroaching gloom descends upon the scene Colas 66850 crawls out of the shadows and into glowing Winter light at milepost 260 with 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk.
