JL - 28.12.17 66425 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Ais Gill MP260

The period between Christmas and New Year is always uncertain for the S&C photographer. One diagram that has generally been very reliable over this period however is K05. For the second day in succession the lunchtime Carlisle - Crewe engineers working climbed south under clear blue Winter skies. In stonking light, and with a featherweight load, 66425 powers up the final few yards to the summit at Ais Gill Milepost 260. Unusually a DBS liveried 66 worked the earlier gypsum but I couldn't get across from the WCML to Ribblehead in time. This shot was published in the Feb 2018 edition of The Railway Magazine.
