28.4.11 60040 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Ais Gill

I stayed at the classic Ais Gill location when I heard that the unique 60040 was hauling the 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe engineers diagram. I wanted a decent location that would show off the livery rather than anything more head on and in the end I was pleased with the shot. It's always pleasing to have Brush traction back over the route but especially so when it's a celebrity engine wearing a unique 'Army red' livery. Travelling at a really impressive speed the ensemble is seen powering towards the roof of England.
