17.9.10 - 66701 & 66108 6M00 Mossend - Clitheroe, Dandry Mire

Not sure whether this was lucky or not. Certainly this is the first time I've been able to capture freight trains working in opposite directions as they are about to pass one another. I don't feel it has a huge amount of photographic merit but I do like it as a sign of how the S&C has become a key artery for freight. GBRf 66708 leads an empty coal train north across Dandry Mire, as 66108 passes in the opposite direction with 6M00 Mossend - Clitheroe empty cement tanks. This shot was published in the 'Line by Line - Settle & Carlisle' book by Martin Buck.
