14.4.10 - 66199 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Newbiggin

Other than late Autumn, Newbiggin is most photogenic in April when the warm spring sunshine highlights the scene best for the lunchtime freights. When the foiliage is in full growth the location can look a lot tighter but now, when the leaves are still to emerge it looks much more like the steam shots in my of my old books. A purposeful looking 66199 powers through Crowdundle Beck cutting and across the lesser-seen viaduct with 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe engineers. This shot was published in the 'Line by Line - Settle & Carlisle' book by Martin Buck.
