It's great to see heritage traction on S&C freight because whilst a 56 on the Saturday logs has become a semi-regular occurance on the WCML, the diagram hasn't been frequently routed over Ais Gill. So, given the rarity I attempted 2 shots. The first at Newbiggin where 56105 is seen going very well and dodging the shadows with 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk. After this a speedy trip down to Ais Gill saw us arrive in plenty of time to join the gallery, however we were only to be done by some cloud. Well done to those at MP 260 and Ais Gill viaduct, it looked like it was full sun at these spots. This shot was published in the 'Line by Line - Settle & Carlisle' book by Martin Buck.
