JL - 8.3.18 66303 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Ais Gill

The skies to my left were not as clear as those further north and so the sun was certainly not guaranteed for 66303 on 6K05 at Ais Gill. My plan was to wait until the train was in sight and then take a last minute decision on which of the several potential locations to shoot. As it happened the sun was going to be out at Ais Gill, MP260 and the summit but not at White Birch, Shaw Paddock or Shotlock Hill so I stayed put. For a change, and because of the lingering line side snow, I decided to stay on the road bridge. With a wide angle lens the mast isn't too intrusive so the result is a very pleasant shot of a rough sounding 66303 working south with a decent rake of low siders filled with spent ballast and spoil.
Next up was the logs which was running just half the usual rake of loaded wagons but no chance of sun.
