JL - 2.1.25 66519 4M52 Hartlepool Port - Willesden, Hartlepool Port

One of the lesser photographed parts of the north east rail network is Hartlepool Docks. A welcome new freight in 2024 saw concrete tunnel sections for HS2 moved from Hartlepool port to Willesden under headcode 4M52. This FHH job brings 66s and empty specialist flats overnight up from Willesden which then load and shunt throughout the following day. With an early evening departure time you'd think there'd be plenty of time to prep but on my visit 66519 was very busy loading and marshalling train sections throughout the morning. Seen alongside a special platform structure where the workmen stap down the concrete sections 66519 basks in the low winter sunshine.
