JL - 18.10.17 56105 + 56087 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk, Appleby

In a complete reversal of my recent awful luck with decent light, the sun shone just at the moment I needed it. This would've been one of the few spots between Carlisle and Ais Gill where it would've been possible to get this in sun. Further south looked completely clouded out further north there as plenty of cloud cover. You can always rely on the "Appleby hole".
In lovely clear light and in a lucky break Colas pair 56105 & 56087 thunder through Appleby with 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk. Great to see this most popular diagram getting back to a more consistent pattern of operation. Long may Grids be the traction of choice, also this was one of those shots where the accompanying sound score was ground shaking! This shot was published in Rail Express in a late 2017 edition.
