23.11.09 - 66039 6M46 Redcar - Hardendale, South Bank

Having been inspired by the mid 80s and early 90s shots of 37s on freight taken around Teesside (especially the area around South Bank) I wanted to get across to see if I could capture some of the heavy industry that remains today. Although the indsutry has been massivley reduced the area still retains some of the old feel. A shot I'd earmarked to get asap was an afternoon freight approaching South Bank station with the coke ovens and part of the Dorman Long factory in thee background. In this, my first attempt at this shot, EWS 66039 crawls towards Middlesborough at South Bank with 6M46 empty Redcar - Hardendale lime hoppers.
