13.12.12 - 66114 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe, Ormside

A very quiet S&C today saw only a handful of southbound workings during daylight hours. One of these was the usual lunchtime Carlisle - Crewe engineers. 6K05 is seen a few hundred yards into the Long Drag, climbing south behind 66114. This is a location I haven't really tried before in Winter, my fear was always that the sun wouldn't be far round enough, however, with snow capped Pennines and clear westerley skies I thought I'd give a shot today. Here's the pleasant result. Naturally the light would been even better for the logs but I had to dash back to work. This shot was used on the front cover of 'Line by Line - The Settle Carlisle' book along with over 40 of my photographs.
