JL - 27.9.24 66078 FINAL 6V71 Hardendale - Margam, Hardendale

Since the announcement in January of the closure of Port Talbot's blast furnaces the associated lime working from Hardendale has been on borrowed time. On what is understand to be the final day, 6V71 Margam lime working departs Hardendale, Cumbria. The weather gods understood the assignment and once 66078 had backed out onto the down line, the scene was illuminated in stunning evening light. A quick pause in Shap summit loop and the diagram passed Tebay 111 mins ahead. I'll miss working from this dramatically sited quarry.
