I hadn't paid much attention the the pathing through Carlisle of 'The Statesman' excursion today which explains why I was expecting BR large logo 47593 to appear at Elmsfield leading 1Z57 Appleby - Hereford. As it happens, it used Upperby Bridge Junction to re-join the WWCML without the driver changing ends. Funny weather today with total cloud cover and pockets of fog in the Eden Valley but clear blue skies south of the Howgills, exactly as forecast for once. LSL's well turned out D1924 / 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' glides south in the setting sun running just 3 mins down.
