JL - 31.10.22 60087 6Z00 Petteril Bridge Junc - Clitheroe, Kirkby St.

Purely a record shot on a very dull day to tell the story of the unfortunate situation which prevails on the S&C currently.
On Weds 21/10 at around 8pm the northbound Clitheroe cement derailed at Petteril Bridge Junction. 5 of the powdered cement tanks left the rails with some ending up in the river below. Cement has been extracted from the tanks that need to be lifted and right now a crane is being set up on site. The Environment Agency are said to be monitoring the situation to help avoid any pollution risk. NR are forecasting completion of the operation and a return to regular operations by end of November but some think early Dec is more realistic. Until then, the S&C photographer must concentrate on the 3 freights which start from points along the route. Namely, the gypsum from Kirkby Thore, the stone workings from Arcow and a semi-regular new aggregates flow from Ribblehead siding operated by GBRf 60s. One welcome addition to this slimmed down freight timetable was a rescue mission to collect the two unaffected Castle Cement tanks from Petteril Bridge and delivery of them to Clitheroe cement works. Running as 6Z00 60087 (a rare visitor) rattles through Kirkby at an impressive pace with the featherweight load.
