With heavy overnight snows and clear skies forecast this early March day promised the classic combination of sun and snow so photographers were out in force throughout the county. The early cloud drifted south on ever strengthening winds and Cumbria shivered in Winter scenes. By late afternoon much of the snow on south facing fields and slopes had melted but the clouds stayed away and it was a stunning afternoon. After some recent trouble with a failure it was a surprise that Colas turned out two Grids for 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk logs. I wasn't complaining however after grabbing this stunning image of 56113 and 56078 at Greenholme Cottage in something approaching perfect light.
