Really happy with this result. Breaks Hall was once a very popular location during the 1980s, the long sweeping curve south of Helm tunnel with it's pastoral surroundings and Pennine backdrop is a classic S&C vantage point. However, recent tree growth on the western embankment has restricted the photographic options and this view represents probably the best angle available today. It's been a location that I haven't had much luck with previously, but all that changed today when shortly before 66850 appeared hauling 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk logs the clouds disappeared to light up this wonderful Spring scene. Talking to a Network Rail employee here today revealed that they are currently removing lineside vegetation prior to starting some repair work to the embankment. If they clear the western side then this spot could once again open up some excellent future opportunities, watch this space.
