17.10.12 - 66703 4D21 Eggborough - Doncaster Decoy Yard, Whitley Junc

Returning from work in Mansfield I stopped in at Whitley Bridge Junction to attempt a shot that was always one of my favourites growing up. In spotting days we paid regular visits to Knottingley depot to see the many 56s shedded there. Many of the magazines and books at the time featured this location and with Eggborough power station in the background, for me, it was always a classic view of Yorkshire coal trains. I wasn't sure what if anything I'd get so I was really pleased when this showed up during a bright spell. Running in its booked path 66703 leaves the Eggborough branch at Whitley Bridge Junction with 4D21 14.25 Eggborough - Doncaster Decoy Yard coal empties.
