11.10.10 - 47739 4Z41 Ribblehead - Chirk, Blea Moor

In 2010 another log working was to grace S&C metals but this time it would originate on the line. Tree felling in the nearby Langstrothdale area around Greenfield generated a significant amount of timber which was to be moved to the timber mill at Chirk. It was suggested that to transport the logs they could use rail, loading at the existing siding at nearby Ribblehead. This must have been a cost-effective option because it actually came to fuition. The chosen traction supplier was Colas and with their 66 tied up on other duties, class 47s were the initial company representatives on this daigram. In this shot 47739 'Robin of Templecoombe' starts the long journey south to the Welsh border having ran-round at Blea Moor.
