JL - 31.12.25 60095 6N87 Lynemouth - Tyne Dock, Newcastle KEB

Well if this really is to be the end for my pics of GBRf 60s on the Blyth & Tyne network I'd be very happy to sign off with this as a final image. I've really enjoyed photographing these Tugs on the short-haul biomass workings and today, the last day of 2025, was no exception. With the news that the maintenance contract for these locos ends on 1/1/26 their future with GBRf seems very uncertain and on this day 60095 was the last one standing, others worked into storage locations potentially for occasional emergency cover. I'd had a wonderful day filling my boots with 60095 'Whernside' on the ideally timed 6N86 and 6N87 diagrams to / from Lynemouth and I decided to push my luck for one final shot as I headed south through Newcastle city centre. Picked out by the golden winter light she crosses the Tyne and is set against an outstanding city backdrop, but for how much longer?
