A lovely afternoon spent on the Wensleydale Railway between Bedale and Newton-le-Willows shooting the first weekend of their Santa Specials. With the recent arrival of ex-ScotRail 47701, which had been freshly repainted into BR blue complete with sliver roof, I had prioritised an early visit to the line. Despite appearances the light was not easy to judge, it was far cloudier behind the camera than in front and sections of the line were dull during the passage of both daylight afternoon workings.
