JL - 7.3.23 66425 4S44 Daventry - Mossend, Shap Wells - West Coast Main Line (north to south)
During the late afternoon it's not uncommon for 2 freight diagrams to follow one another up the steep climb to Shap from Tebay. The usual 4S44 Daventry - Mossend and the fairly regular 4S38 Seaforth - Mossend. Currently with engineering works taking place north of Carlisle the WCML is blocked so passenger services are terminating at Carlisle and through freight is running via the G&SW route. In this image, which for me is hugely enhanced by the stunning clouds in powder blue skies, 66425 is perfectly lit as she powers up the final slog to Shap summit with S44
