JL - 5.6.23 69001 & 66744 3Q99 Carlisle - Carlisle, Greenholme

I'd seen many shots of the 69 hauled weed killer train from all around the network whilst patiently waiting for their arrival in Cumbria. Today I took my chance to get out for 3Q99 Carlisle - Carlisle which ran down the WCML to Carnforth, along the Furness line to Millom and back and then north back to Carlisle in the evening. With 69001 'Mayflower' at one end and 66744 'Crossrail' at the other I obviously targeted the ex-56. It turned out to be a very frustrating afternoon. I wasted a good 8 hours chasing this thing across South Cumbria getting outrageously done by cloud at several spots before finally bagging it in superb light 15 mins from home with the very last shot of the day. Patience paid off in the end and of course I'm pleased to get something but I couldn't help feel this was scant reward for the effort.
