JL - 28.8.24 66763 6C00 Clitheroe - Carlisle Yard, Birkett Common

I was out at the lineside this evening more in hope than expectation. Little did I know I was in for one of those S&C miracle moments. It had been a very long day at the desk and I needed an escape for some fresh air and solitude. After a totally dull day and with so much cloud around I wasn't expecting much and after the preceding service train I had stood in dull conditions for around 25 mins. As the tell-tale rushing sound of a freight in Birkett Tunnel grew louder Birkett Common was lit up in golden evening light. A friendly blast on the horn from the driver of GBRf's 66763 and 6C00 Clitheroe - Carlisle Yard loaded cement glided past. A very pleasing result for a very happy S&C photter.
