In fine and bright Springtime conditions 66787 waits in Willesden Euroterminal ready to depart with 6O37 loaded spoil boxes for Cliffe Brett Marine. The spoil material from the HS2 project is being used to create enhanced wetland habitat for wading birds and wildlife at Cliffe in Kent. The project has been developed in partnership with the RSPB. The first of many rail deliveries was received by Brett Aggregates operation in Cliffe, Kent during Dec 2022 as part of a 3 year contract which will see 2 trains operate per day from early 2023. Up to 2 million tonnes of spoil primarily in the form of London clay from HS2 excavations and tunnelling works for the new high speed rail network will be delivered to the site.
