JL - 18.3.16 66106 6M00 Mossend - Clitheroe, Beckfoot

If there was any doubt about the intrusive effect of palisade fencing then this shot confirms it. This used to be a really nice location for morning southbound WCML workings (see many shots taken here in recent years in the WCML gallery). However, the appearance of the ubiquitous barrier has completely upset the balance of my preferred angle at this location. What a shame. I'm just pleased I've been able to capture some decent shots before the new fencing went up. The rationale for the introduction? Richard Branson's wish to cut down on suicides on the railway. How many suicides have there been in the Lune Gorge I wonder? Still the fences continue to go up at pace.
66106 works south through Beckfoot with the diverted 66106 6M00 Mossend - Clitheroe cement empties. With the continued closure of the S&C it looks like the cement will run via this route for the foreseeable future. In the formation today were some Hanson sliver tanks which give the working a blast from the past appearance from an era when the just delivered Castle tanks were being painted and branded one at a time from plain silver into their white livery with company branding.
