As soon as 70020 came into view near Dillicar it was very clear that the usual personal needs break in Tebay loop would not be taken today. The usual controlled approach was replaced with a full blooded charge for the fells and with 1 in 75 just ahead the FHH machine was building some impressive momentum as it passed me. Top of the class - 70020 races through the Lune Gorge with 4Z44 Daventry - Coatbridge. The sun wasn't quite far round enough but it was just illuminating the light cluster on the far side which helps break up the dark front somewhat. The 70s have made a welcome comeback on the WCML recently which is nice for the photographer as we've had to put up with the domination of 66s for so long.
