Major disruption for Caledonian Sleepers and ScotRail in general overnight provided the very rare opportunity to shoot this nocturnal diagram in the light of the Cumbrian day. It was the southbound Highland Sleeper that was worst affected by trouble at Waverley, although the s/b Lowland Sleeper was also around 2 hours late. It's understood that somebody jumped / fell off Waverley bridge and onto the station roof. This meant all overhead power was turned off and trains for the Scottish capital quickly backed up. When power was eventually restored in the early hours a unit also failed near Slateford, the evacuation of which was complicated by passengers refusing to leave and police were called to assist. This working had been on time approaching the chaos around Edinburgh and as a result of the mess was held at Linlithgow for 4 hours. Eventually leaving the Scottish capital at 06:36 (296 mins late) 92033 is seen cruising south from Shap at Salterwath 311 mins down at around 08:47 which is 1 hour later than passengers should've left the train at Euston. Unfortunately, their mood wouldn't have improved because the diagram was terminated at Watford Junction and ran ECS direct to Wembley. This final piece of disruption came about due to engineering works resulting in two track operations into Euston. 16 coaches that can only use two of Euston's platforms with the additional requirement for a light loco to release the stock was obviously assessed to be the lesser of two tough choices for Caledonian. Although, quite how their passengers were feeling by this point can only be imagined!
