8.8.11 - LMS 5MT 45305 'The Mersey Moorlander' Carlisle - Liv, Thrimby

Despite a lousy forecast the skies became clearer and clearer as I was travelling back to Cumbria this afternoon. So I stayed on the M6 and headed for the southbound climb to Shap for a shot of today's steam railtour. A reminder to always take my camera with me even though I hadn't planned to do anything today. Although there was no exhaust the spectacle of the Black 5 pounding upgrade around the curve at Thrimby was a sight to behold. The returning 'Mersey Moorlander' was working from Carlisle back to Liverpool having ran outward via the S&C, presumably in cloud and rain.
