During early 2006 engineering work was carrried out on the northern section of the WCML, necessitating diversions over the S&C during weekends Jan 14th/15th through to March 25th/26th. 57/3s were employed on 3 return Pendo drags on Saturdays and 2 on Sundays. Forming the 1A54 11.53 Carlisle - Euston service on Jan 29th is Virgin Thunderbird 57304 and 390043 are seen climbing past Newbiggin on the 3rd Sunday of diversions.
