24.3.14 - 66199 6M20 Drax - Kirkby Thore, Rise Hill tunnel (north)

What a belter. The day dawned bright and clear without a single cloud in the sky, just as had been forecasted, and I was out very early to make the most of the conditions. A great option at this time of year for early northbound workings, if you don't mind the climb, is this shot in west Garsdale just north of Rise Hill tunnel. At around 8.25 in stunning light with the sun at a perfect angle 66199 rolls into Garsdale with 6M20 Drax - Kirkby Thore loaded gypsum and disturbs the perfect still morning air. The amazing view down the valley at this point is one of the best backdrops on the line.
