23.8.12 - 66737 6S45 North Blyth - Fort William, North Blyth

Blyth sunrise. A family holiday on the beautiful Northumberland coast allowed for a very early start one morning to catch the loaded alumina tank working to Fort William before departure from North Blyth. I've seen the afternoon shots of the trip workings to Lynemouth at this location plenty of times but I always thought it would be a nice silhouette opportunity for an early departure. It's 05.45, just a few seconds before sunrise and the fuel tanker has just arrived to provide GBRf 66737 with the diesel it requires for the trip north. Shortly after this there was a bit of shunting to prepare the full trainload then a timely 06.30 departure in dull conditions for 6S45. For me and Patch it was a bracing walk along Cresswell sands before heading back to the caravan for a brew.
