22.8.11 - LMS 5MT 45305 Liverpool - Carlisle, Blea Moor Tunnel

Bright and sunny conditions overhead as Black 5 45305 bursts from the northern portal of Blea Moor tunnel with the outward leg of the Summer regular 'Mersey Moorlander' railtour. The slight haze was due to this working pushing the diesel fumes back out of the tunnel from the previous coal and cement diagrams which had passed, not something that I had expected to happen. Nice to see and chat to BL for a while.
