16.10.09 - 57305 'Alan Tracey' 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk, Docker - West Coast Main Line (north to south)
Prior to haulage by hired-in DRS 57s for a short while and then transfer to Colas 66 haulage, since it's inception the Carlisle - Chirk log diagram was hauled by Virgin Train's 57/3s. This led to a colourful looking working which attracted photographers from far and wide. For me, the quintessential shot of 6J37 was at Docker which always looks its best when the Autumn colours dominate and the Howgill Fells develop depth due to shadowing. In mid October 57305 'Alan Tracey' works south with this ever-popular service. This shot was used in Big Freight - The Book, published in July 2010 by Videoscene.
