The lunchtime 6K05 Carlisle - Crewe engineers diagram was today running 2 hours late which allowed me to get out after work to capture this scene at Birkett Common. Unusually the load was the new Network Rail ballast cleaning wagons, and the attractive ensemble is seen climbing south behind 66102. Also of interest is the clarity of the atmosphere which is very unusual for this time of year.
